Safety & Emergency Procedures Training (SEPT)

Safety and Emergency Procedure Training is a two part requirement:

  1. A generic, non aircraft specific theoretical course aimed at giving flight deck crew awareness of their responsibilities towards their passengers’ safety when there are no cabin crew members carried.

Our course covers both Part 91 requirements as well as Part 135, commercial operators of small aircraft and Part 127, operators of commercial helicopters. Deal Alliance will issue the certificate for theory training which is valid indefinitely

  1. Crew who have completed the theory course will still need to be specifically trained on the equipment that is carried on the aircraft they operate. Deal Alliance will cover this practical training on the aircraft in question and issue a certificate which will need to be renewed annually.

Aim of the course

Parts 135 and 127 are not required to carry cabin crew members. Pilots are therefore required to take on this role insofar as their piloting duties allow. This course will give them the knowledge and tools with which to carry out the responsibilities that a cabin crew member would have done in order to ensure the safety and comfort of the passengers.

Breakdown of the theory course:

  • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Communication and Briefing
  • Passenger Handling
  • Seats and Seat Belts
  • Cabin Baggage
  • Electronic Devices
  • Fuelling With Passengers On Board
  • Emergency Equipment

Breakdown of the practical course:

Pilots will need to have access to the aircraft for which training is given to enable the specific safety equipment to be checked.

  • Suggested safety checks of emergency equipment
  • Suggested passenger briefings
  • Location of certain equipment
  • Door opening procedures
  • Seat belt operation
  • Fire extinguisher operation

A well-briefed passenger will be better prepared in an emergency, thereby increasing survivability and lessening dependence on the crew to assist them.
